Introducing The Gloves Are Off, the life story of Paddy Kenny

Updated: Jun 14, 2021

Former Premier League star joins team Vertical

Vertical Editions are delighted to announce that we are publishing the autobiography of Paddy Kenny, the former Bury, Sheffield United, Queens Park Rangers and Leeds United goalkeeper. During his career, Kenny also signed for Rotherham United, Bolton Wanderers and Ipswich Town and represented the Republic of Ireland national team.

Released in Autumn 2020 and co-written by Vertical publisher Danny Hall, 'The Gloves Are Off' is Kenny's no-holds-barred account of his colourful career and life. It features a foreword from Neil Warnock, the legendary manager who signed Kenny a remarkable FIVE times during their careers.

'He is the larger-than-life figure who bounced back from rejection at 16 and graduated from parks pitches to become a Premier League goalkeeper, and later represent his country. Paddy Kenny's career was certainly not straightforward... just like his life. In his autobiography, Kenny lifts the lid on his time on and off the football field - including dressing-room rucks, being beaten for the Premier League's most famous goal and having his eyebrow bitten off in a curry house, just days before he faced Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Manchester United. This is Kenny's story... and the gloves are well and truly off.'
