A Millers Tale: Rotherham legend John Breckin's book

Updated: Jun 16, 2021

We are delighted to announce a transfer-window deal to publish the autobiography of Rotherham United legend John Breckin. To be released in 2021, 'Breck - My Life in Football' will be written in conjunction with Les Payne, the former Rotherham Advertiser and Sheffield Star journalist who covered The Millers for 45 years before retiring in 2014.

The book will help raise funds for Rotherham Hospice, a cause close to Breck's heart. Now 67, John joined The Millers as a schoolboy and made almost 500 appearances in red and white. He was part of the title-winning side in 1980/81 before later moving into coaching with the club, and was made an honorary life president of The Millers. “Few people in football will have had an influence as great, across the board at one club, like he has over his many years associated with the Millers," chairman Tony Stewart said of Breckin.

"He has been a shining example within our community, getting involved with a number of charity projects, none more so than his ongoing work with the Rotherham Hospice. The name John Breckin and Rotherham United are inextricably linked."
